Albinism

Albinism refers to a group of genetic diseases in which melanin synthesis is disordered resulting in lack of pigmentation or aberrant pigmentation. Oculocutaneous albinism involves tissues in the eye and skin. Ocular albinism involves tissues of the eye alone. There are many subtypes of these diseases caused by different genetic mutations.
