Bergmeister's Papilla

In fetal life, the hyaloid artery nourishes the lens as it develops. This artery regresses as the fetus nears full maturation, but sometimes a small remnant remains. The remnant that remains at the optic disc is called Bergmeister's papilla. The remnant that remains at the back of the lens is called Mittendorf's dot. In this example, the yellow arrow indicates Bergmeister's papilla.
