Stargardt Disease - Fundus Autofluoresence

50-year old, African American female, presented for 2nd opinion regarding diagnosis of an unknown maculopathy. Vision tested at 20/200 each eye, with a central scotoma in each eye. The fundus autoflouresence, shows damage at a cellular layer. The dark swath around the macula, extending towards the optic nerve (yellow arrow) is representative of cells that have died and dropped out. The lighter area (red arrows) shows retinal cells that “sick”, and will soon drop out as well. This picture is consistent with Stargardt disease.
