Asymmetric Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) Toxicity Two Years Later

This patient was taken off hydroxychloroquine two years before these pictures because of early toxicity. These pictures show that the left eye, which had no fundus changes before, has now developed changes, despite being off the drug. Plaquenil is stored in lean tissue for long periods and despite discontinuation of the drug, toxicity can progress.Compare these photographs to those from the file "Asymmetric Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) Toxicity". Panel D in the most recent photographs shows early window hyperfluorescence that was not present on 3/2/2010. The visual fields and OCTs that go with these photographs are in the files "Visual Field Toxicity Progression Despite Cessation of Hydroxychloroquine", "Time Domain Line Scans in Hydroxychloroquine Toxicity", and "OCT Map Patterns in Hydroxychloroquine Toxicity".
