Choroidal Nevus - Peripapillary with Lipofuscin - Color Photo
You should look at the Normal Retina photo first for comparison. This photo shows a choroidal nevus on the superior border of the optic nerve. It does not involve the neural rim of the optic nerve in contrast to the other peripapillary choroidal nevus found in the Photos section of this website. It has some orange pigment on the surface in one area called lipofuscin which tends to be a sign of a nevus requiring closer scrutiny and followup, as melanomas tend to have this pigment more than nevi.
