Sickle Cell Disease- Locus of Temporal Retinal Damage
These are OCT images from an 8 year old female with sickle cell disease. She was referred by her pediatrician to screen for sickle cell retinopathy. Her pinhole visual acuity was 20/40 OD and 20/20 OS. There is a locus of temporal retinal damage (yellow arrows) temporal to the foveal depression in each eye. This comes from localized ischemia. She had no peripheral new vessels. A 2 year follow-up was recommended.
