Cone - Rod Dystrophy

Cone -rod dystrophy is a name that covers many genetic mutations that have in common the primary early death of cones and to a lesser extent, and occurring later, the death of rods. This is a subgroup of the larger term retinal photoreceptor dystrophies, often called retinitis pigmentosa. Patients with cone -rod dystrophy often have reduced central vision, reduced color vision, and later loss of peripheral visual field.
