Closure of Outer Retinal Cavitation
This montage of OCTs in a 62 year old woman who underwent macular hole surgery of the left eye shows that early during the postoperative period it is common to have a small outer retinal cavitation that resolves over time. The first set of scans were taken a week prior to the surgery (6-27-2018). You can see the stage 1 macular hole of the left eye (green arrow). Two weeks after surgery (7-24-2018) the hole is closed, but outer retinal cavitation is present (red arrow). Five months after surgery (12-28-2018), the outer retinal cavitation has resolved (yellow arrow).
