Renal Cell Carcinoma Metastatic to the Choroid

A 14 year old girl with renal cell carcinoma developed blurred vision in the right eye. Examination revealed the large submacular choroidal metastasis in the right eye and an unsuspected, clinically silent metastasis of the left eye. The fundus photographs are shown here. Choroidal metastasis from renal cell carcinoma has the unusual feature of associated hemorrhage as was present in this case. Serous retinal detachment was also present in each eye, a common feature of choroidal metastasis.
