Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy - Optic Disc Neovascularization - Post Intravitreal Avastin Injections
This 54-year-old Type I diabetic was seen for a routine diabetic retinopathy check. In fundus examination new vessels were present in each optic disc. The left eye has a mild vitreous hemorrhage. Intravitreal Avastin injections were recommended and performed for both eyes. The images above reveal the disc neovascularization before treatment and one month after treatment. Note that the fine abnormal blood vessels have regressed. No further was recommended at this point. The patient was asked to return to the clinic in eight weeks for a recheck.
