Optic Disc & Peripheral Neovascularization
The above images are from a 67 year old male with a 10 year history of Diabetes. The patient did not have any visual complaints and was 20/20 in both eyes with correction. The slit lamp exam was normal with intraocular lenses in both eyes. The fundus exam showed moderate nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy in the right eye. The left eye fundus exam showed neovascularization of the optic disc (see images above teal arrows) and peripheral neovascularization. The treatment plan included anti VEGF in both eyes. The patient was also encouraged to keep tight control of blood sugars.
