Retinal Detachment with Scleral Buckle
This is a wide angle color fundus photograph (OPTOS SLO camera) of the left eye of a 79-year-old male patient who had retinal detachment repair using a scleral buckle. In scleral buckle surgery a silicone band wraps around the eye underneath the retinal breaks and is sutured to the sclera. The indentation releases traction on the flaps of the retinal breaks and closes them. The indentation induced by the sclera buckle is indicated by the yellow arrows.
