Peripheral Exudative Hemorrhagic Chorioretinopathy

Peripheral Exudative Hemorrhagic Chorioretinopathy (PEHCR) is a condition in which choroidal neovascularization occurs under the peripheral retina, sometimes associated with bleeding, lipid exudation, and scarring. Affected patients may complain of photopsias or peripheral blurring. It often occurs in concert with age related macular degeneration. When a sub retinal hemorrhage occurs, the resulting lesion can be mistaken for choroidal melanoma. In the scar stage, it is also known as an eccentric disciform scar.
