Macular Pattern Dystrophy
Fundus photographs and frames from the late phase fluorescein angiogram of both eyes of a 35 year old woman with macular pattern dystrophy. The tan flecks are clumps of lipofuscin under the retinal pigment epithelium (yellow arrows). The late hyperfluorescence of the lesions does not exactly correspond to the shape of the flecks in the color fundus photograph (green arrows). This patient had 20/20 visual acuity in each eye and was asymptomatic. Her examination was engendered by going on hydroxychloroquine for systemic lupus erythematosus and requiring fundus screening for toxicity.
