Hydroxychloroquine Retinopathy - Correlation of Fundus Photography and Fundus Autofluorescence Imaging
These are images from a patient with hydroxychloroquine retinopathy. The fundus autofluorecence image on the right shows more evidence of retinopathy than the less sensitive fundus photograph. RPE atrophy is present in a bulls-eye configuration and can be seen in both images (yellow arrow). The fundus autofluorescence image shows hyperautofluorescence adjacent to the areas of RPE atrophy (blue arrows). In the color fundus photograph these areas look normal. More peripheral RPE atrophy (red arrows) is easily seen on the fundus autofluorescent photograph but is difficult to see in the fundus photograph.
