Optic Neuropathy - Ischemic Optic Neuropathy
Refer to the normal retinal anatomy for comparison. These fundus images come from a 58-year-old man with ischemic optic neuropathy of the left eye. His vision was 20/20 on the right and count fingers at his face on the left. The optical coherence tomography (OCT) image of the right eye is normal. The OCT image of his left eye shows loss of the retinal nerve fiber layer due to optic nerve injury (red arrow). The fundus photograph of the left eye shows a pale nerve associated with this condition (yellow arrow).
