Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography in Diffuse Unilateral Subacute Neuroretinitis
The subretinal nematode in diffuse unilateral subacute neuroretinitis destroys photoreceptors over time. The SD-OCT shows this effect, as in this image, taken from the patient illustrated in the Information Document, figures 3 and 4. Notice the normal inner segment/ outer segment junction in the right eye (yellow arrow). In the left eye, this structure is missing (green arrow). The left macula is thinner due to the destruction of the photoreceptor layer of the retina. The patient whose SD-OCT is shown is the same as the patient whose multifocal electroretinogram is shown under the Images section for this disease.
